Human Resource Development Cell (HRD)

The Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDPs) are conceived with main objective of creating first generation Entrepreneurs and to help them to set up their Enterprises. These programs create self-employment and facilitate exploitation of natural resources and opportunities in different areas.

NITCON TOPs among all the EDP conducting Institutions/ Organizations in the country both in the Actual Start up (55.55%) as well as Estimated Final start up (62.96%) against National Average of 25.94% and 31.97% respectively. (as per the All India Evaluation Study of efficacy of Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDPs) undertaken by EDII, Ahmedabad.

Till date NITCON has conducted 416 EDPs for different target groups and trained over 9600 candidates. More than 4530 first generation entrepreneurs have already implemented their units with incremental investment of about Rs.1790 lacs and creation of primary employment of over 11000 persons.

Out of 416 EDPs, NITCON have conducted around 130 programmes on behalf of Department of Science & Technology, GoI, New Delhi; 10 Programmes on behalf of SIDBI, 43 programmes on behalf of NABARD, 41 programmes on behalf of Ministry of Food Processing Industries, GoI,. New Delhi, 5 Programmes on behalf of Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources, GoI, New Delhi, 10 Programmes on behalf of Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI-I), Ahmedabad and 177 programmes on behalf of AIFIs, SFIs etc.

NITCON conducted EDPs for different groups like :-

1. General category candidates.
2. Science and Technology (S&T) persons.
3. Technology Based Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (TEDPs).
4. Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs).
5. Skill Development through Science & Technology (STST).
6. Process EDPs.
7. Women.
8. Special target groups like riot affected migrants and unemployed youth of border districts of     Punjab.
9. Rural Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (REDPs).
10.Exclusively for Food Processing Industries.
11.Exclusively for Renewable Energy/ Solar Energy Projects ·

Besides above, Till date NITCON has trained around 42000 beneficiaries in the State of Punjab since inception of the scheme (1993-94) and around 17500 beneficiaries in the State of Haryana under the centrally sponsored scheme namely "Prime Minister Rojgar Yojna" (PMRY). NITCON has already trained more than 8,200 beneficiaries in the State of Punjab under SJSRY Scheme and above 250 beneficiaries in the U.T.Chandigarh on behalf of State Urban Development Agency (SUDA), Punjab and Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.
